Do Not Despise Small Beginnings | Creative Wellness

Over on the YouTube channel, I did a Bible Study and Art video where we talked about Zechariah 4:6-10 and one of the biggest takeaways for me was to not despise small beginnings! Let’s read the verses:

So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.

“What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of ‘God bless it! God bless it!’”

Then the word of the Lord came to me: “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.

10 “Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone[a] in the hand of Zerubbabel?”

6 Things That Stood Out to Me

  1. We can do nothing without the Holy Spirit
  2. We will face many mountains AKA challenges but how can that compete with our God? These mountains will turn into plains!
  3. God uses us to complete works, just remember to give all the glory to God.
  4. Do not despise small beginnings, you have to start from somewhere.
  5. God sees all and knows all.
  6. He will rejoice as we go to work!

Do Not Despise Small Beginnings

Perspective can make a huge difference. What is your vision? As an educator, I called myself an agent of change. I could have said I was just an English teacher but because my vision saw successful students that were going to change the world, and I was a part of their journey. Their journey extended way past that one year as their teacher.

Starting small is a beautiful thing! Watching the growth, the progress is inspiring and encouraging. Take the first step.
