One of my favorite ways to engage with the Word of God is through creativity. There’s something special about slowing down, opening the Word, and letting your heart respond in such an expressive way. Think about it, we live in a world where everything is rushed and digital, and I found Bible junk journaling to make you stop… breathe… sit at His feet and engage your senses in Scripture.
If you’ve ever wondered what Bible junk journaling is or why so many women are falling in love with it, this post is for you.
What Is Bible Junk Journaling?
Bible junk journaling is the beautiful blend of Scripture study, creative expression, and visual storytelling. It takes the heart of Bible journaling and adds elements of mixed media art, think layers of color, textures, stickers, stamps, washi tape, envelopes, pockets, and “junk” (those scraps and bits that usually get tossed).
It turns your Bible study time into a worship experience.
In Bible junk journaling, you’re not just reading the Word, you’re responding to it, illustrating it, and capturing what God whispers to your heart. Every page becomes a testimony, a memory stone, a reminder of what He has done.

Why You Should Get Involved
If you’re wondering whether this is for you, let me encourage you:
- It helps you meditate on Scripture.
Creativity slows your mind down long enough for the Word to sink deep. - It builds a beautiful record of your walk with God.
Each spread becomes a spiritual journal you’ll love looking back through. - It awakens your creativity.
You don’t have to be an artist, your worship is the art. - It brings joy to your quiet time.
Bible study becomes something you look forward to… not another task on your list. - It makes Scripture memorable.
You remember what you create. The verses come alive in color, texture, and form. - It creates community.
Bible junk journaling groups, online or in person, are full of encouragement, ideas, and inspiration.

What Is a “Spread”?

When you open your journal flat, the left and right pages become a single canvas.
Your spread might include:

- Journaling, lettering, or artwork
Think of it as a creative devotional—your thoughts and God’s Word illustrated on two connected pages.
