Becoming the One Who Leads Your Family to Christ

Let’s chat about becoming the one who leads your family to Christ. Sounds heavy, sounds scary… but it is a beautiful thing.

When you read the Bible over and over again, something happens! You will get a fresh and new revelation during different seasons of your life. You will see the same verse that you have read so many times so differently. We get to experience the Living Word. I was reading Genesis again, and a favorite well-known story shifted for me, it was about Noah. I have heard the story many times, yet this time seemed personal as if God was saying, “This is you!” And then came the confirmation when I randomly watched a message from Priscilla Shirer, and got the same message but in a different way.

The verse, Gen 7:1

Then Adonai said to Noah, “Come—you and all your household—into the ark. For you only do I perceive as righteous before Me in this generation. The Tree of Life Version.

When I read, “For you only do I perceive as righteous before me in this generation” I leaned back in my chair and thought, “the ONLY one?” But look at the beginning of the verse, Come you and ALL YOUR HOUSEHOLD! This one man’s righteousness allowed his WHOLE family to be saved. I thought that was mindblowing.

Think about it, we have these huge families, full of dysfunction, doing what they think is right in their own eyes. There are unbelievers, fornicators, murderers, homosexuals, drunkards, cheaters and all the rest of us. WE ARE ALL SINNERS, yet there is at least one in our families who can be the one to light the way to Jesus.

I read this a week ago and today, The Holy Spirit reminded me of that story and why I am here when I listened to Priscilla Shirer’s message. She talked about how she comes from a legacy of believers, yet it didn’t start like that. She talked about her grandfather, who wasn’t a believer and lived an unholy life. He met someone, and he gave his life over to Christ. He was forever changed, but not his house situation. He still had a horrible marriage and dealt with it for three more years. One day his wife came down and kneeled down with him and said she wanted what he got that changed him. She gave her life to Christ. Then they introduced Christ to their children, Dr. Tony Evans a little boy, came to know Christ… and now they are here. But she said, that maybe you do not have a legacy of following Christ, but you could be the one to start a legacy and that statement was so loud and kept repeating in my spirit.

On that same day Noah, along with Noah’s sons Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah’s wife and the three wives of Noah’s sons with them, entered the ark,

But then I questioned that thought, I guess the enemy tried to make me think that I was making it up. I thought, but God, I have no children, I am not married, who am I leading? And immediately, so many people, places, and visions popped into my head giving me a calming peace. I am here on a mission, my life is not my own, and I am here to do the will of my Father.

You might be the one too! The one who leads your family to Christ because of your righteousness through Christ’s death and resurrection. You may think, how? Your life is how… following the leading of the Holy Spirit, listening and obeying, living in a way that points to Jesus.

I was chatting with one of my favorite parents at the school I work at, she is muslim and she was telling me about the meaning of a name. The name was Issa and she immediately said, “It means Jesus in Arabic and to you, Jesus is God, to us He is a Prophet.” I never told her I was Christian, and in fact I have the Eye of Horus and an Ankh tattooed on my arm, that definitely doesn’t scream Christian, but somehow she just knew. I smiled after that conversation because it reminded me that people notice the presence of Jesus, even when we say nothing. It made me think about what it really means to live in a way that points others to Christ. As I reflected on Noah’s story, Priscilla Shirer’s message, and my own encounters, these five takeaways settled in my heart.

5 Takeaway Points: Becoming the One Who Leads Your Family to Christ

  1. The Word Is Alive and Always Speaking
Each time you open your Bible, expect God to show you something new. His Word is living and active, and it meets you differently in every season. What was once a familiar story can become a personal revelation when your heart is ready to receive it.
  2. Your Righteousness Impacts More Than Just You
Just like Noah, your obedience and faithfulness can cover your entire household. One person’s walk with God can shift the spiritual direction of a whole family line. You may be the reason someone else finds safety in Christ’s “ark.”
  3. You Might Be the First to Start a Godly Legacy
Don’t be discouraged if you didn’t come from a Christian home or a family of faith. God often chooses one person to be the beginning of a new legacy, the one who says “yes” when no one else has. Your faith can set the foundation for generations to come, becoming the one who leads your family to Christ.
  4. Your Influence Isn’t Limited by Family Titles
Whether or not you’re married or have children, your influence is real. God has placed you in communities, workplaces, and relationships where your light can shine. You may not see it, but your obedience plants seeds in hearts you don’t even realize are watching.
  5. Your Life Is the Testimony
Sometimes the loudest sermon you’ll ever preach is the way you live. When people see the peace, love, and integrity that flow from your relationship with Christ, they’ll notice, even without you saying a word. Like my conversation about the name Issa, God can use your presence to spark curiosity about who Jesus truly is.

Maybe today, you’re realizing that you are the Noah in your family, you know, the one God has chosen to live righteously and build something that will preserve others. You may not see the full picture yet, but your obedience, your prayers, your presence, and your quiet yes to God are making waves in the unseen. Whether through your art, your words, your kindness, or your faith, you are helping build an ark of safety and hope for those around you. Keep walking in righteousness, not for recognition, but because it’s what brings others closer to Jesus.
